Tourist Attractions in Khandala

Khandala Ghat A perfect getaway to let your hair down after days of hectic schedule, Khandala is one of the key hill stations in Maharashtra in India. Set at an elevation of 625 meters above sea level, it is located on the western parts of the Sahyadri mountain range. Replete with a profusion of natural beauties, the tourist attractions in Khandala are simply amazing.

A tiny and lovely hill station, the town of Khandala is in itself a spectacular scenic canvas of the luxuriant green hilly surroundings. If you are drained with the daily toil, you can take your car down 101 kms from the rocking city of Mumbai to absorb a few moments of peace. The several trekking trails around it are pleasures for the adventure enthusiasts.

Excursions:
Adjacent to Khandala, the much loved hill station of Lonavala at barely 5 km from Khandala is a wonderful excursion option from Khandala. A beautiful picture in itself, Lonavala is simply marvelous during the monsoon season as the place turns lush green amid waterfalls and ponds.




Lakes:
The several lakes strewn across the town are some of the major Khandala tourist attrcations. Your visits to Tugauli Lake, Lonavala Lake and Bhushi Lake and the Walvan Dam will be extremely refreshing.

Caves:
At a distance of 16 km from Khandala, you can visit the Karla and Bhaja Caves, one of the greatest tourist attractions of Khandala. Positioned amid the hills these rock-cut cave temples have their origin rooted to as early as the 2nd century BC and are among the most ancient and excellent examples of Buddhist rock-cut temple art in India.

Rock Climbing:
Adventure lovers can try their luck at rock climbing at the Duke�s Nose peak and other areas in the Karla hills, near Khandala. Tourists arriving from Mumbai to Khandala via the Mumbai-Pune highway can view the entire countryside from the top of the Duke�s Nose.
