Introduction to Kanak Valley

Kanak Valley, Jaipur is a scenic area situated just besides the Amber Fort in the city of Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan. The garden within is said to have been conceived as an imitation of the mythical Vrindavan gardens associated with Lord Krishna, one of the most revered deities in India. The Kanak valley in Jaipur is one of the most beautiful gardens of Jaipur. It was built under the orders of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, belonging to the Kacchawa family, the rulers of Amber for many generations. The chief attractions of the garden are the series of marble fountains, and the temples. The temples of Natawarji and Govindji, are fine examples of the Rajasthani temple architecture. . The Govind Deoji temple, after facing years� of neglect, has received significant restoration. The temple is adorned by beautiful chattris, or carved roofs, and intricate lattice work. The mirror work in the temple is similar to that seen in the famous palaces of Jaipur. The central chamber of the temple is decorated by the wonderful �Panni� work. Parikrama, a fountain made up of a single piece of marble, is located in the central chamber of the temple.

The vast area of Kanak valley in Jaipur is surrounded by the Aravalli range. The Dharbavati River flows past one end of the garden, diminishing into the Man Sagar Lake. The area is filled with Dhok and Kadamba trees, and divided into 8 sections. The river and the water bodies in the park attract many birds of the region, including many migratory species.

The valley used to be an elephant path and a place of lavish celebrations during local festivals like Teej and Gangaur. The geometrically designed kanak Bagh, a garden built between the two temples, is a wonderful spot where tourists can relax after a tiring day of sightseeing around the Amber Fort. The enchanting religious chanting and the music playing in the central stage in the garden produce a calming effect. The lush green lawns and the line of fountains make this garden one of the major attractions of tourism in Jaipur.

The garden and the Govind Deoji temple are lit up at night and look stunning amidst the backdrop of the Nahargarh hills and the surrounding forest. The vats area of the forest in Kanak Valley, Jaipur, and the Kanak Bagh, can be seen from the three major forts of Jaipur.
