History
The history of Hyderabad is full of interesting episodes and political turmoil. This ancint city was founded by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah, a ruler of Qutb Shahi dynasty, founded the city of Hyderabad that was located on the banks of the Musi River in the year 1591. The famous iconic monument Charminar was also built here under his rule. It gradually became a center of diamond trade and the efforts of Qutb Shah, contributed to the promotion and development of Indo-Persian and Islamic literature and tradition in Hyderabad. It was in the 16th century that this city grew became the capital of the Qutb Shahi rulers.
The fate of Hyderabad declined as and when it came under the Mughal rule in the year 1687. Thereafter, Asaf Jahi dynasty ruled Hyderabad until a year after India's gained independence from the Britain. It greatly prospered under the rule of the Nizams and later after the independence, on September 17, 1948, a year after India�s independence, the Nizam signed the Instrument of Accession to the Indian Union declaring Hyderabad as a part of India.
