Calicut, also known as Kozhikode is a district in the state of Kerala with a rich history that dates back to thousands of years even before the Christian era began. The city came into prominence in the World History after Portuguese traveler Vasco Da Gama landed on the Kappakkadavu Beach in this city on his discovery of the sea route from Europe to India.
