Bharatpur is situated between 26�22� to 27�83� North Latitude and 76�53� to 78�17� East Longitude. The city is 184 km from Delhi is easily accessible by roads form Agra and Jaipur. The most important attraction in the city is the Keoladeo National Park, which is an ecstasy for bird lovers. The park covers an area of about 29 square km and takes pride in housing over 375 species of birds and 35 species of butterflies. The park was once known as the best duck shooting resort during the time of the British rule, and was declared a National Park in 1972. The park was declared a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1985.
