Aurangabad, the city in Maharashtra is an important tourist destination for its historical monuments. The city has a rich history and takes pride in having some of the famous cave temples which has been recognized throughout the world. The cave temples of Ajanta and Ellora have been ranked in the UNESCO World Heritage list for their sculptures. The city drained by the Godavari River covers a total area of about 10100 square km and has two multiplexes, 14 movie theatres and three public auditoriums. The city is situated about 513 m above the sea level and the best time to visit the city is between November and February.
