Auli is a relatively recent addition to the list of tourist attractions in Uttarakhand in North India. It is fast gaining popularity as the best among the very few ski resorts in India. During winter, the road from Joshimath is unmotorable due to excessive snowfall. The cable car from Joshimath is the only alternative mode of transport. The resort can be reached by road from Joshimath by hiring jeeps or pother vehicles, when roads are motorable. The nearest railway station is Hrishikesh / Haridwar which is well connected to all the major cities of India by fast trains.
The nearest airport is Jolly Grant near Dehradun ( 280 kms ). Indian airlines has regular flights from Delhi to Dehradun.
