Mountain Flight |
Nestled in the laps of the Himalayas, Nepal is home to more than half a dozen of mountain peaks, glaciers, rivers and valleys. Nepal is an all time tourist hub and mountain flights are among the biggest attractions here. The mountains have a charm that is hard to resist for any nature lover. To see the peaks or to climb them is an experience of a life time, but such activities are not for everyone. Mountain flights in Nepal offer an excellent alternative to those who cannot withstand the rigours of mountain climbing. The mountain flights contribute immensely towards the growth of Nepal tourism.
There are a number of private services, which organize daily sightseeing expeditions over the mountain peaks. Buddha Airways and Yeti airways schedule flights daily. The hour long flight over the Himalayan Mountain peaks is a mesmerizing experience. The panorama of snow clad mountains, glaciers and gorges feels like a dream as your aircraft glides through the sky towards Mount Everest. Coming as close as 10 nautical miles to the highest peak of the world is an exultant experience. Apart from a birds eye view of the Mount Everest, the tour includes an air view of all the eight peaks of Nepal along with the glaciers and gorges that flank them.
Buddha Air runs four Beech 1900D aircrafts of American make. It is an eighteen seater aircraft though only 16 seats are rented at a time. The best part is that everyone gets a window seat to experience the breathtaking 25000 feet high flight. Several flights operate between 0630 hours to 0930 hours, depending on the load factor.
Yeti Airways also guarantee window seats for you. They normally run a one hour Everest mountain flight in a jet. The aircraft takes off from Kathmandu airport and flies east taking the craft to an altitude of 25000 feet. The journey includes the majestic views of some of the highest mountains of the world. The jet is a 30 seater though only 19 seats are sold for one journey.
You would get a certificate at the end of your mountain flight signed by the flight captain.

Karnali Airs and Fishtail Airs run private helicopter to the Everest region. It is a 1 hour 15 minutes ride to Syangboche, the landing area. You have to walk for about 20 minutes to get a closer view of Everest. Due to the high altitude, a helicopter can normally take a maximum of 4 passengers.
And heres the icing on the cake. By any chance if the weather is bad and you dont get a proper view of the peaks, either your money is refunded or you can opt to take another flight to the peaks some other day.
