Sivagiri Mutt:
Established by Sree Narayana Guru (1856 - 1928) the famous philosopher and social reformer of modern Kerala, the Sivagiri Mutt is a revered site. The Sivagiri Mutt is also the central point of the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Sangham, a religious association set up by the Guru to spread his preachings of �One Caste, One Religion, and One God�. The �Sivagiri Pilgrimage� is normally performed between 30th December and 1st January annually.


Anjengo Fort:
Positioned very close to the town of Varkala, Anjengo Fort was the main garrison of the Dutch East India Company. This fort still reminds one of the dominance of the East India Company in the state of Kerala.

Varkala Tunnel:
Tourist Attractions in Varkala also has an elongated tunnel, which started being built as early as 1867 and was completed 1880. Known as �Varkala Turuthu�, this tunnel was constructed under the management of Divan Sheshaya Sasthri and was extensively used for ferrying of goods.
