A visit to India is incomplete without a visit to the important religious places of the country. A typical tour itinerary of Chardham spans over 10- 12 days. The tour starts off at New Delhi and the destinations covered are Hardwar, Barkot, Yamunotri, Harsil, Gangotri, Uttarkashi, Guptakashi, Gaurikund, Kedarnath, Joshimath, Badrinath, Pipalkothi, Rishikesh, culminating at Delhi.
Haridwar:
Arrival in Haridwar is followed by sightseeing in the city and overnight stay. The next day starts with a drive to Barkot, a 7-8 hours affair. The Kempty falls are visited en-route. Overnight halt is made at Barkot.
Yamunotri:
The journey to Yamunotri, the source of the river Yamuna, begins the next day. The route undertaken is usually via Hanuman Chatti and Phool Chatti. A trek to Yamunotri begins from Phool Chatti. After visiting the temple and the nearby places of interest, the pilgrims trek back to Phool Chatti, and back to Barkot for an overnight stay.
The places of interest in Yamunotri include the Yamunotri temple, hot sulphur spring, Surya kund, Divya Shila, Sayanachatti, Janakichatti and Hanuman Chatti.
