The Jim Corbett National Park was originally named Hailey National Park in 1936. It is the oldest national park in India and one of the major steps taken by the government towards the conservation of Indian wildlife. Dhikala � this is a beautiful place offering a wonderful panoramic view of the Patli Dun valley through which the Ramganga river flows. The watchtower is a useful vantage point to spot the animals that graze among the grasslands. The Dhikala chaur (grasslands) and Phulai chaur are the last remaining grasslands in the region. The old guest house was built over a hundred years ago and is one of the interesting places in Corbett.
Garjia Temple �
This famous temple is an enormous rock structure situated about 14 kilometers from Ramnagar amidst the Kosi River. The deity is Garjia devi after whom the temple is named. The temple is the venue for a big fair held on Karthik Poornima, a sacred Huindu occasion.
Bijrani - During the British period, this was famous as a hunting area. The place abounds in animals and natural beauty and is one of the important tourist destinations in Corbett National Park.
Jhirna � The abandoned farmland is being developed as a grassland habitat in Jhirna. The farm village was relocated under project tiger in 1994. The area is full of sparse scrub vegetation, and thus provides a nice opportunity for spotting tigers, leopards and sloth bears. The rest house at Jhirna lies on the road from Ramnagar to Kalaghar, inside the southern boundary of the park.
